
"The direct costs for the care of Alzheimer's patients exceed 11 billion Euros, of which 73% is borne by households. According to statistics, in Italy there is an emerging pattern of increasingly informal and private care: in half of the cases the assistance is the responsibility of the children, while 38% of the sick is given to a caregiver. The majority of patients will not be followed either by a grape or a public center (56.6%) ", explains Manuela Donghi, journalist and author of views with your eyes, edited by Giuliano Ladolfi Editore.
Made in collaboration with the Friends of the Centro Dino Ferrari and Korian Group, the European leader in the management of residences for the third and fourth age, the book recounts the journey in the world of Alzheimer's patients through the eyes of a teenager.
The book costs € 12.00 and is available in bookshops from June origin. Part of the proceeds of the book will be donated to Friends Centro Dino Ferrari. The presentation provides a starting point to map the state of the prevention, treatment and research for Alzheimer's. More and more space are non-drug therapies, such as the camouflage of residential and architectural spaces, the Doll Therapy and Ealing Gardens (ortho-therapy). Also recently introduced the virtual train, a method to quench the escape from anxiety that accompanies the days of the sick.
Before entering the wagon, the sick can stay in a waiting room outside and accurate and realistic iconographic expedients. Then, seated on chairs mitigation, can savor memories and lost emotions, finding peace and serenity while viewing the scenery and the intermediate stations that run under their gaze through a fake window used as a screen.
