In front of the mirror, the young Brasillach turns out to be like all alone in the world: only the face of life, only the face of death - and that there is no clarity or beauty or dreams of greatness to be pursued, and that life is always what you have already experienced because of what they make a decision, and memory is the most precious thing with all that jealously preserved and at the same time the most cruel and difficult to regulate and manage. And that there is no intelligence or faith that takes the face of despair of loneliness and death, in front of the power that has its reasons only in strength to overpower you - as it is the only logic that emerges from events such as this and that concealed rule life is not all, trivial and generic, but of all those who are on the other side of the fence that always divides the lives of the most vulnerable from the others.
All this is in the lines of his poems written and lived in the prison of Fresnes and finally make him a poet of the same human quality of André Chénier and François Villon.
