"Herodias" and "The Faun" are two examples poems to understand the poetry of Stéphane Mallarmé. The two works, here translated into their various drafts, from early youth newsrooms to unfinished manuscripts, allow us to appreciate the author's stylistic evolution and the slow change of its interests. The publication of the complete dossier of the two poems, accompanied by an extensive critical apparatus, allows an approach to agile and thorough at the same time one of the most representative poetic figures of modernity.
