The love between Alda Merini and Michele Pierri was a great, intense love between two poets. It was brief because Pierri was already advanced in years, but it was fundamental for both of them. For four years they loved each other from a distance, with an endless dialogue made up of long telephone calls and dense letters. For another four years they were married and lived together in Taranto. During that period, Alda's fundamental poetic works saw the light of day. A veil of oblivion then fell over their great, dramatic love, partly intentional, partly natural. And it is precisely through poetry, a unifying tool, that Silvano Trevisani, their friend during their years in Taranto, still gives voice to their love story.
