Class 1957, Riccardo Mainardi graduated in political science from the Statale of Milan, has resided for many years in Rapallo, his hometown.
He made his debut as a storyteller in 2011 with the sylloge Le ultime lezioni dell'anno (Gammarò editions), ranking second at the International Literary Prize Per un mondo migliore in Noventa Vicentina. In 2014 he won first prize in the Scriviamo Insieme literary contest in Rome (unpublished fiction section) with the novel Dust in the Fog later published by Liberodiscrivere Edizioni. In 2018 he wrote the historical-fantasy novel Il sogno di Amos (Giovane Holden Edizioni), which took first place in the 2019 Books for Peace Prize in Rome Fantasy section. Mistress, his fourth novel, was a finalist in the Premio Internazionale di Letteratura Città di Como 2020 unpublished fiction section and was published by the publisher Delos Digital publishing house (print and digital versions). His latest work, Gli innumerevoli volti dell'amore (The Countless Faces of Love), was ranked third at the 2022 Como City Prize in the unpublished fiction section and in 2023 won the Edizioni Italiane Prize organized by the publishing house of the same name, winning publication of the work.
