Giorgio Sica (Salerno, 1975) teaches Comparative Literature at the University of Salerno.
He has published two volumes of poetry: The other room of the voice (Guida, 2010, with a preface by Dante Maffia) and Versi di mare and d'orto (Oèdipus, 2013, with afterword by Paolo Lagazzi).
He participated in the bilingual anthology Cinquanta Foglie. Japanese and Italian Tanka in dialogue, edited by Paolo Lagazzi (Moretti & Vitali, 2016). In 2010 he won the Stolfi Award for unpublished poetry.
He translated The book on nothing, a masterpiece by the Brazilian poet Manoel de Barros (Oèdipus, 2014) and, in the magazine Trivio, an anthology by Paulo Leminsky.
He also translated for the first time in Portuguese poems by Rocco Scotellaro (Forum Italicum, New York, 2016) and Alfonso Gatto (Italian Mosaic, Rio de Janeiro, 2017).
One of his stories has been included in the last volume of Toilet. Short and long stories depending on the need (Editions 80144).
He published volumes of literary criticism The emptiness and beauty. From Van Gogh to Rilke: how the West met Japan (Guide, 2012, translated into Portuguese in 2017) and A chain between East and West. Octavio Paz, the Japanese poetry and the Renga of Paris (Oèdipus, 2014).
His essays, poems and translations have appeared in Italian and foreign magazines.
