Stefanoni Gian Piero
Gian Piero Stefanoni, born in Rome in 1967, where he graduated with a degree in Modern Literature, made his literary debut in 1999 with the poetry collection *In suo corpo vivo* (Arlem edizioni), which was followed by several other titles, the most recent of which is *La costanza del cielo* (Il ramo e la foglia, Rome, 2024). Featured in various anthologies, his works have been published in poetry collections and specialist journals and translated in Spain, Malta, Greece, Chile, Venezuela and Argentina. His book on poetry, co-authored with Francesco Di Ciaccia, *Di novembre (alveo) e la poetica dell’aderenza* (Stampa Eliografica Correggio, with the nominal support of the Archivio dei Cappuccini Lombardi, Milan, 2023), was published in 2023.
A former contributor to *Pietraserena* and *Viaggiando in autostrada*, he served as editor of the multicultural literary magazine *Caffè* and, for the poetry section, of the theatre magazine *Tempi moderni*. Since 2013, he has also been a poetry reviewer for ‘LaRecherche.it’ (for whose e-books his work on dialect poetry from the province of Chieti, *La terra che snida ai perdoni*, was published in 2017). Since 2014, he has been a judge for the ‘Il giardino di Babuk – Proust en Italie’ Prize.
His critical works include *All’altezza degli occhi*, a study of Italian poetry; *Lettere da Malta*, a tribute to the Maltese intellectual Oliver Friggieri (both published in 2023 by Ideobook in Colli al Metauro); and *Biografia delle voci*, a study of poetry in dialects and minority languages of Italy (PDE, Formia, 2026).
Among his awards, he particularly likes to recall the earliest ones: the ‘Via di Ripetta’ and ‘Dario Bellezza’ prizes in 1997, both for unpublished work, and the most recent award in the religious poetry section of ‘Arte in versi’ in 2021.
