Abria Tavanti was born in Arco, in the province of Trento, in 1945. She was only a few months old when her parents moved to Arezzo, Tuscany, to her father's family belonging to the Cortonesi Patrizi Fiorentini nobility. Here he attended school and later received his ISEF diploma in Florence.
After a brief teaching stint in Brianza, she met her future husband, painter Renzo Mezzacapo, with whom she married and moved to Piombino, where she still resides. They will have two children, Marco and Irene, both musicians.
In 2003 he published the book of poems and I so light, with an introduction by Davide Puccini (Felici Editore Pisa).
In 2006 she enters with a short self-portrait in the repertoire Scritture femminili in Toscana. Entries for a self-dictionary edited by Ernestina Pellegrini (ed. Le Lettere).
In 2007 she published the book of poems corri formica robusta, with an introduction by Ernestina Pellegrini and afterword by Ennio Calabria (La Bancarella Editrice). The text is included in the project “Archive for the memory and writing of women in Tuscany,” hosted by www.archiviodistato.firenze.it/memoriadonne .
In 2019 she published the book of poems intermittences, with an introduction by Paolo Fuligni (ed. La Ghirlandina Modena).
