MILAN - Put in showing their naked feeling, the movement of the heart at age 80 through poems and verses that tell the idealization of youth passed, the beauty of memories, a hoped catharsis, harmony adhering to the serenity . Licalzi Adalgisa, a retired elementary school teacher born April 21, 1934 in Comiso (RG), has found the courage to tell the love for his land and the platonic between two guys and bring in verse years later in the book "Let's dress of verses. "
Poems appreciated and shared with the likes of Gesualdo Bufalino , Dino Barone, Alessandro Quasimodo, Mario Grasso, but only in old age, thanks to the insistence of his children, have become public domain through publication in a book edited by Julian Ladolfi Publisher . The book will be presented May 31 to 18 at the Auditorium Theatre of Hake Comiso .
How are the poems contained in the book " Let's dress of verses " ?
I wrote these poems as a young girl , and I kept them in a drawer for that form of modesty typical of someone who writes poems. Compared to those who write in prose, poems who makes no compromises. I presented these poems to some of my literary friends , saying that the author was a friend of mine , who advised the continuation and publication. I struggled a lot to being called a poet . For me, these verses were simple thoughts, some due to a platonic love youth , and other related social commitment to the traditions of my country and the south. This is a book that continues to persevere this love for our land , for this way of loving . This love between two guys based on looks, nods . A great love and reported in verse. A poem that could be written only in this part of Sicily, because it is a love born in a system of life that existed only in that land and in that moment , and now it's gone.
Why the choice of the title " Let's dress of verses " ?
The title I have chosen for myself , as the poem for me is the only outlet I have for my illness . We see little , I suffer from dry macular degeneration . I read with difficulty through an optical reader . The social life is never compromised, and I can express myself through poetry and play my thinking, so that gives me joy and happiness. The prose is easier to hide , while in poetry it is impossible to divert , you can not talk to another if not for yourself, it's personal.
In many of his poems , emerge mixed feelings : regret and longing, sadness and nostalgia. What causes such contrasts ?
I was a woman when it was not easy being a woman , because women had not as bearers of rights and opinions , but closed in a male society . The commitment to a southern woman to talk about feelings or company had a serious obligation . That's why I considered it a priority lock me this "form" . My teacher of Italian and Latin, Gesualdo Bufalino , was the one who for so long had asked me to carry books which speak of this . I always said that " there is a culture not ' museificabile ' " concerning the places in Sicily and civic engagement , the description of a society seen through the eyes of melancholy , not appreciated by his contemporaries.
Why did you decide to publish this book after so long?
The publication coincides with my 80 years. After publishing poems easier because they are linked to social and description of Historic Places, the Sicilian mentality , I was convinced to publish these poems of love. In verses show a parallel in my life , I have always had the decency to read these poems , even against my children , for fear of being misunderstood. I was undecided until the last of the publication . They were my children and almost forced me to let me publish this book. Today I arrived in an old age , serene , a widow for 12 years, I found the courage to publish these poems with much modesty . The poems have been published retrieved through my memory and dictated , remaining unchanged compared to when I wrote them .
