In contemporary literature there was , surprisingly, an abundant flowering of " apocryphal gospels " that is, rewrites, complete or partial , bold or faithful , the " good news." The harvest of the " apocryphal " twentieth century is so abundant and high-level , no less literary than theological and spiritual , by silence , by itself, any doubt about the importance that the most important books of the Christian faith have continued and continue to have among men of letters as a reason for reflection and inspiration.

Of course, when we speak of " apocryphal modern " about rewriting of a purely literary , are appropriated in a broad sense , by suggestion of a historiographical category , the fact of the apocryphal gospels , which , in itself , very different implications . The works in question , in fact, do not expect either to replace or to supplement the four canonical Gospels , but rather are content to amplify them , to develop them to the side streets , to take them back more or less freely , to interpret them, finally, in a modern way , showing thus implicitly - what matters most - the perennial relevance of the Christian message and the paradigmaticità of the earthly life of Christ (Giuseppe Langella ) .
