Why a book on aphasia ?
"The book is inspired by the story of my aunt Paula, suffered a stroke in 2010, of course I fictionalized the story but what I have not changed are the strength of will , courage and his great desire to live ; in my life I have never met a more positive person and her combative , it can really be an example for all . The other characters I have just described , the feelings for other people almost non-existent , only describe the state of mind of the protagonist, the story of the Odyssey Paola to achieve his one goal: to find the word . Because this is what happens when you are really focused and determined to achieve a goal, especially if it so important to return to a good quality of life . Even the style is fragmented wanted because it is a sort of diary recounted by the author , or from me. It is a story that can be read in less than two hours . A short book that all people with aphasia or not they can read with ease. "
It's a story or a novel ?
"It's a story and not a novel, and I stress this because it is not the same thing. There is a big difference , but unfortunately even the best critics often do not know the difference . The story and the novel are not equal; not even similar . The story is not a novel " small ." And the difference lies not only in length. You can not read a story like we had in front of a fiction : it would be a big mistake and not what we would understand the value and the more serious we will be disappointed , so it is pointless to write or speak negatively of a story : "Do not has structure , is fragmented , nothing happens ... "Because the story is like a pearl . It has features that are not caged in a structure or in a fixed pattern . The story is the story of a particular and this is what gives the sense of the story. It might not even be a character, could be an object or a concept, an idea , and we talk almost exclusively about that. In my case I decided to have a protagonist and concentrate solely on his misfortune : the stroke and its effects.
In the story we give the completeness of a fact, but also , only one particular , a fragment, a piece of reality or non- reality : this is decided by the writer .
The story revolves around this central point is in a sense as to meet the writer and reveals himself to them in its particularity ( the particular accomplished ) . The story does not necessarily tells a story , but it can also develop only an idea , an illusion. It suggests a meaning: The story starts with a main point and develops one : the writer develops as you want.
Indeed there may be an open ending or surprise, I chose The final closed but is not required ; if there is a final decision of the author as it should be, depending on the desired effect . The writer may have wanted to point out a particular character or essential also lyrical and poetic , just to suggest a broader view . "
Therefore, the content of a story can be a time , an image , a picture, a sliver of a view of a story ?
" In my book Paola is the only protagonist, and I walk with her every step of stroke and other people , including children , are mentioned only because it reflects the reality of who is fighting a war against their own health. When you fight against death more than you do not care about anyone but yourself and the only thing you think about , the real obsession is to return to a "normal" life . Have you ever tried it? I do, and that is what I experienced. All of a sudden become just extras because at that time you did not even have the strength to take care of people, even if expensive.
The literary style may seem fragmented it is because I chose to tell the story as a sort of diary, however, insist that the story is not a novel, follows the open road that gives its creator .
The important thing is the idea and meaning and , in the story , perhaps the end is the real heart that leads the reader to a suggestion or an argument .
The story must therefore be read differently from the novel and do not have to wait to find the characteristics of the latter, because he has not really.
