“La poesia è la tecnica che uso per dire qualunque cosa importante voglia condividere con la gente oppure ricordare nel tempo, come un diario. È il mio unico modo per dire o “ridire” qualunque cosa io veda o viva. È anche vero che per descrivere certi sguardi bastano poche parole e, per farlo, la poesia è sicuramente uno strumento privilegiato”.
Casali ha all’attivo diverse raccolte di poesie: “Attaccamenti” (2010), “Notte provincia” (Edizioni clandestine, 2011), “Poesie” (autoproduzione, 2012), “Sotto fasi lunari” (Incontri editrice, 2013) e ha collaborato con il noto pittore Andrea Chiesi nel libro “19 paintings 19 poems” (Italian Cultural Institute of New York, 2014) dal quale è stato estratto lo spettacolo “Forma Suono Parole”, con la collaborazione musicale dei Siegfried, presentato la prima volta al Poesia Festival 2014. This anthology contains the work of twenty-one Italian poets born between 1983 and 1995. The editors, Matteo Fantuzzi and Isabella Leardini, working closely with the publisher Giuliano Ladolfi, have taken great care to compile the most essential and compelling work of an impressive assemblage of young poets. Fantuzzi in his introduction situates the contributors in a poetic climate represented by such magazines as Atelier and Nuovi Argomenti and the festivals Parco Poesia and Pordenonelegge, marked by a spirit of collaboration and the shared desire to investigate how poetry can respond to the grave crises in values in society. While respectful of the poetic traditions of the Novecento, they are not bent on imitating them or drawing attention to themselves as individuals, but rather coalesce around certain communcative values and experiences. Leardini in her introduction traces the trajectory of a generation that began writing on typewriters and ended up on computers; she cites Mario Santagostini’s characterization of her generation as having ably assimilated the poetic language of the Novecento and gained an admirable fluency in that language. Glossing the dual lyrical and narrative direction of the poets, Leardini reveals their intent to mediate those poles in a diaristic fashion, “di essere per l’appunto lirici e narrativi insieme, sia che questo prenda forma attraverso una costellazione di frammenti a comporre un quadro più ampio, in cui è la struttura l’elemento narrativo di una natura lirica, sia attraverso un respiro più lungo che ha la necessità di raccontare” (13).
